Motorola DROID family shows itself

Thanks to evleaks we have here today the whole family of Motorola Droid, mini, ultra and maxx. The photo reveals the design of the 2013 Motorola DROID series of phones. In a true Moto fashion, they are boasting Kevlar encasing, which helps not only durability but also keeping the weight in check. The company has also decided to go for capacitive keys instead of onscreen software ones.Apparently, Motorola's plan for the 2013 RAZR/DROID lineup includes a Mini, which we reckon will replace the Intel-powered RAZR i and its Snapdragon-tasting RAZR M twin. In addition, there's going to be a MAXX variation of the Ultra, which as the name suggest, is built around a huge battery. The current-gen RAZR MAXX has a gigantic 3300mAh battery, and the 2013 DROID MAXX's battery should easily match or even beat that capacity.Meanwhile, another leak, this time of a Motorola DROID Ultra advertisement storyboard, suggests that the phone will be able to last two days without the need of a recharge. There's also a hint of an advanced voice control software, but it may just be part of an upcoming Google Now update, rather than a new software feature by Motorola. That's all the information we've got at that point. The Motorola DROID Mini remains a total enigma at this point, but as the leaks keep pouring, we'll probably know much more about it in the coming days and weeks. Another day, another purported Motorola Droid handset breaking cover. This time it's the little heard-of Motorola Droid Mini. None of the devices have been officially announced by Motorola, as yet, as the Google-owned company focuses its attention on the forthcoming launch of the much bandied about Moto X handset. The @evleaks post which claims to introduce the "The Motorola Droid Family, 2013" showcases a smaller device that looks to be around 3.5- or 4-inches in size and could be Moto's answer to the Galaxy S4 Mini and yet-to-be-confirmed HTC One Mini Android phones. In more Moto news, we could see the first of these rumoured devices in less than a month's time. Judging by a leaked TV commercial storyboard obtained by AndroidCentral, the Droid Ultra will be introduced by Motorola on August 8.The storyboard details a tough, scratch resistant phone with improved voice commands such as "Hello Moto. Open Spotify."The site has since pulled the image, presumably under instructions from somebody's legal team. our next Motorola smartphone may last for two whole days without requiring a charge, according to a newly leaked advertisement that is. The ad, which appears to be a commercial story board for the Verizon-only Droid Maxx, claims  the device will come with “48 hours of worry-free battery life.” The ad also hints at a James Bond-style tie-in. The battery life claim seems a bit outlandish, but it does fall in line with Google and Motorola’s push toward creating longer lasting batteries. Back in April Google CEO Larry Page emphasized the importance of battery life in mobile devices during the company’s earnings conference call.  “Think about your device,” he said. “Battery life is a challenge for most people. You shouldn’t need to carry around a charger to make it through the day…Having just seen Motorola’s upcoming products myself, I’m real excited about the potential there.” Not to mention, rumors surrounding Motorola’s upcoming Moto X phone suggest that it will come with a massive 4,000 mAh battery, further indicating that battery life will be a selling point for future Motorola handsets. We praised the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD for its lengthy battery life of more than 8 hours, although Verizon boasts that its 3,300 mAh battery can last for up to 32 hours. While this is just a fraction of what Verizon claims, it’s comfortably longer than the smartphone category average of 6 hours and 9 minutes during the LAPTOP Battery Test, which consists of continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE with the phone’s brightness set to 40 percent. The reportedly leaked advertisement, published by Android Central, comes just days after Twitter account @evleaks posted what claims to be an image of the Droid Maxx. The photo didn’t reveal much, but does hint that Motorola will keep with the design language of its previous Droid-branded handsets. The first camera snapshots taken with the Motorola DROID Ultra has appeared thanks to evleaks. This is the first time that we get to see the smartphone's camera in action. The leakster did a good job of snatching an official photo of the phone's front and back, too. The photo's resolution 4320 x 2432 pixels, which translates to 10MP (10.5MP, to be exact) with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This means that either the smartphone has a brand new 10MP sensor with a 16:9 aspect or a 14MP sensor with a conventional 4:3 aspect that has been cropped to widescreen ratio. The shot is slightly underexposed, but we wouldn't read too much into that. The DROID Ultra unit used for taking it certainly wasn't running a final version of its software. Even the hardware might still be fine-tuned, so we expect the final product to be much better. The Motorola DROID Ultra is the Verizon-bound version of the smartphone, but rumor has it that Motorola will keep the RAZR name for its upcoming lineup. Rumored specs of the Motorola RAZR Ultra include 4.7" HD Super Amoled display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and 16GB of internal storage coupled with a microSD slot. There's going to be a LED flash for the main camera and a 2MP front-facing snapper. Beneath the back cover resides a 2500mAh battery. The smartphone, in a usual Motorola fashion, sports a Kevlar body.
